New Programs Open for Enrollment!
Hello!
Bit by Bit, the organization behind the Hello World camp and the after-school clubs your child may have attended, is excited to announce two new online afterschool programs for the 2020-2021 school year: Form and Function, where middle schoolers can learn the heart of web development, and Uncommon Sense, where high schoolers learn the essential concepts of critical thinking.
Form and Function is a free, weekly after-school program that helps middle schoolers transform the web into a canvas for their ideas. We have crafted six different curriculum levels to provide appropriate challenges for everyone from beginners to Grace Hoppers. Through our interactive projects, demos, and lessons, students will dive deep into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create their own unique websites. All it takes is a computer and some creativity to hop on and level up your coding skills!
Uncommon Sense is a new weekly after-school program where inquisitive high school students can learn, discuss, and apply techniques to make decisions based on evidence and reasoning. Every Wednesday at 4pm PDT, students meet and tackle a new concept from cognitive science, economics, statistics, decision, theory, or philosophy, then practice applying and examining this tool though discussion, puzzles, games, and more! We teach everything from Bayes’ theorem to timeless decision theory. The program costs $20 per month, though scholarships are readily available!
If you or someone you know wants to help with either teaching or outreach, we are always looking for volunteers! Learn more about the available opportunities here.
